Juice Program updates!
Juice ready for delivery last year.
Hello!
I hope you had a lovely Holiday Season and wishing you an amazing 2022! First and foremost I wanted to thank you for your continued support. With the little Airstream Juice Bar feeling welcome in East Warren, and the Cold Pressed Juice Program’s success, I feel super grateful. Thank you.
I am writing this to give you all a little heads up for what is to come in the not to distant future.
The Juice Program last winter went well for its inaugural season, but there are some changes that need to be made to keep it going and allow for growth. Last year’s method worked, but was not sustainable regarding time spent and output produced; and would certainly not scale. In order to ensure quality, consistency, and have it support itself financially, a new method of production and distribution is in order. To address this I have been working with a consultant, crunching numbers, and we are making a plan to grow the program and increase access to the juice.
My plans are to structure it similar to last year, having a couple (or more!) pickup locations around the Mad River Valley as well as in the Adirondacks around Elizabethtown, a similar pre-buy structure, and continue to allow you to choose your juice in advance for the month.
Some of the changes to the program include:
Bi-monthly pickup of frozen juice.
New packaging suitable for frozen product, in single serve containers.
New cold pressed juicer designed for production (it is RAD! Check it out here).
It was a race last year to press the juice (a typical day in the kitchen was 13 hours), get it to your pickup location, and have you consume it within the ideal 72 hour window. These changes will allow much more flexibility on your part, and mine. You will pick up your juice frozen, and either put it in your freezer at home to drink later, or thaw it right away if you are ready to drink it (within the 72 hour window). No nutrient or enzyme activity is lost, and with the new machine separation is minimized upon thawing. The bi-monthly pickup will save time, as you can pick up two weeks of juice at once and simply pull out to thaw as you are ready to drink it.
The industrial machine will enable me to process much larger batches at once, front load my production when there is a surplus of local produce, and maximize my use of local food.
That leads me to another exciting shift, I plan to operate this year round!
These changes will allow me to put out a lot more juice into the world, which is ultimately my goal. It is also a significant investment (the biggest yet!). For this reason I am looking for your feedback on the changes I plan to make, as well as if you have interest in signing up this winter. You can enter your feedback here.
Thank you all so much, yet again, your enthusiasm and support continues to amaze me.
Stay healthy and safe and know that you will have some juice coming in 2022! Stay tuned for updates!
Blessings,
